The Knot Best of Weddings 2012...

In what has already been an exciting week of announcements, we are proud to say that Fishtale Photography was voted a Best of Weddings Pick in The Knot Best Of Weddings for 2012...thank you to all of our clients and friends who made this possible!  I am humbled and honored...2012 is going to be an amazing year!

The Sieben Family... | Saint Paul Portrait Photographer

There have been many blessings in my business...but this family is definitely among the biggest.  Not only have they been so supportive of what I do....but they tell all of their friends and family about it too!  They are nothing short of wonderful.  I'm not sure what I'd be doing if it weren't for them...probably still practicing law (like 4 out of the 7 people in these photos)!  But, because of them, and others like them....my business took off...and I was given the opportunity to pursue my dream of running my own business...Fishtale.

When I realized that we'd all be down in Mexico for the same wedding at the same time...I decided that we had to get some family photos in!! You may recognize several of these couples....as I have photographed a few of them in the past...and will be photographing Kevin & Katie's wedding in Napa next spring. But, to get to capture them as one giant family was a first for me.  They are a tight-knit group.  They are supportive and loving to each other, are all extremely intelligent, entrepreneurial, talented....and just plain fun...most would say they are a dream family. 

I love them.

After my whispered suggestion for Kevin to push everyone toward the waterline...I caught this reaction. While they all had fun facial expressions to watch...my favorite part was Bill's reaction.  For those of you who don't know Bill...he is a highly respected attorney and is a serious partner at his law firm...he always focuses on the job at hand...and there was no exception here....his face and focus on the camera remained the same...and it melted my heart...

Sausage, Mushroom & Spinach Lasagna...

There's nothing like a tasty Italian meal to warm you up on a cold winter day...

Since the Holiday Splurge....ugh...Seth and I have been trying to eat a little better...but doing so can often be really bland.  Salads in the winter just don't do the trick for me.  Usually, about fifteen minutes after eating a salad, I look and Seth and say..."I'm hungry"...(accompanied by a pout-y-face)... to which he responds..."DQ"?  So I started to look for healthy versions of those comfort foods I just can't give up.  I found this recipe on EatingWell.com and it was delicious.  Click on the link to get the recipe!

Elevate Workshop...

The. Bomb. This week was a wonderful week of collaboration, inspiration and ...communication? I feel so motivated and inspired by the amazing photographers, videographers, wedding planners, and florists who all came together to make such an amazing workshop (yes, you read that right, I just used amazing twice in one sentence). It is so fun to meet peers in this industry and feel such a bond. I definitely came away with more than I left....friendships, ideas, amazing photos... and potentially some vay-cay weight gain....

The following photo was from the final challenge of the week.  This couple was so sweet and so gorgeous. The theme that we were to shoot was "The Honeymoon". We worked in groups of three to put together a collage and story theme of three photos.  This was my shot. It was rumored that this photo may have been the best from the day...just a rumor...but sometimes, they're true, right?...But alas, this challenge was a group project and there is no I in teaim.

What a crazy week...
